Polly Wants Some Peanut Butter

For the past two nights, I have been craving two of my favorite things in the world.. Chocolate and Peanut Butter. 

These two bad boys called out to me, Trader Joe’s 100 Calorie Chocolate Graham Toucan and 1 tbs of Natural Peanut Butter.

Simple and delicious.  Eating this reminds me of when I was a little kid.  For a treat, we would have JIF peanut butter and sheets upon sheets of chocolate graham crackers.  Ah, to be young and naive about calories 😉

Hot, Fresh Lunch!

It was so nice to leave school early!!  My Doctors appointment went great and my blood pressure is perfect… for some reason I always stress out about those silly numbers when I get them checked!  On the way home, I stopped by Trader Joe’s for some staples and a treat or two!

  • Whole Wheat Buns (threw these in the freezer, they thaw out SO well!)
  • Creamy Natural Peanut Butter
  • Semi Sweet Chocolate chips
  • Kiwis! 
  • High Fiber O’s
  • Dried Granny Smith Apples – I’m excited to toss these into salads!
  • WW Couscous
  • Tempeh

After shopping, I finally made it home and started putting together lunch!

On the side, a Spinach, Mango, and Almond Salad with 1 tbs Annie’s Goddess Dressing.

HOT SANDWICH!  Grilled Eggplant, Grilled Tofu with Dijon mustard, Spinach, and two slices of Sourdough bread!  I made this in my grill pan which I have neglected for so long!  Easy grilled veggies will be on the menu more often!

Lunch was 404 calories, 18 grams of protein, and 7 grams of fiber!

Sushi and Sweets!

This afternoon, I finally got to try Trader Joe’s ‘Just a Handful of Go Raw Trek Mix’.  They are pre-portioned snack bags of trail mix!

210 calories, 3 grams of fiber, and 7 grams of protein.  They were really tasty but slightly high in calories… it was good for a day where I am not feeling 100%!

After munching on these, I went for a very easy 2.25 mile walk.  It was nice out and I wanted to move on my ‘off’ day so it was perfect


For dinner tonight, I went out and had Sushi!

Salad with Ginger Dressing.  I had a few bites of this, the dressing wasn’t good at all…

Steamed Edamame with Sea Salt.

Asparagus Roll!  Tempura Asparagus turned out to be fantastic!  I was surprised when this roll came out because I wasn’t expecting it to be crispy!

Vegetable Roll with asian baby carrots, marinated daikon, cucumber, and asparagus.


For dessert tonight, We raided Earth Fare!  I had several samples of vegan candy from the bulk section and ended up making two sweet purchases.

Vegan Chocolate Frosted Cake

Double Chocolate Cookie from Alternative Baking. 

Don’t worry, I didn’t eat it all  😛

I am pretty full and extremely happy!

Hump Day!

It’s so great to see the sun again, I am definitely going to spend a good amount of time outside today!  I can’t believe it’s Wednesday, it definitely feels like a Friday!

Lunch today was really simple but delicious as always!

To start off, I had freshly cut cantaloupe.

Spinach, Bell Peppers, and Garlic!  It’s been awhile since i’ve had a large amount of garlic so this hit the spot!

My main part of lunch was a Turkey and Bacon Sandwich.  I used 4 slices of Smart Deli Turkey, 2 slices Smart Bacon, 1 tbs Nayonaise, Spinach, and mustard all on a Trader Joe’s Whole Wheat bun.  The flavor combo was really great but definitely way too much sodium.  Next time, i’ll choose between the turkey or bacon!

334 calories, 27(!) grams of protein, and only 5 grams of fiber.

I’m low on fiber today… I guess i’ll have to have a fiber packed snack 😉

A Dippy Dinner

I went to Trader Joe’s today so I based my dinner around my new food items!

Trader Joe’s Reduced Guilt Pita Chips, Premade Baba Ganouj, and homemade Lemon ‘Yogurt’  Hummus from KathEats.comThe hummus was amazing!  It was a great contrast to the tangy baba ganouj and was actually sweet like a dessert!  I made a huge tupperwear of this stuff and i’ll definitely make an effort to eat it before my trip to NYC!

Also for dinner, Trader Joe’s Beef-Less strips with steamed broccoli.

355 calories, 30 grams of protein, and 7 grams of fiber.

Trader Joe’s is Better than You

As I mentioned earlier, it’s raining… now it’s pouring!  Despite the bad weather I still went to Trader Joe’s and spent 21 dollars:

  • Whole Wheat Pita Pockets
  • 3 Caramel Brownie Luna Bars
  • Firm tofu
  • Weetabix (I’ve never had this before!)
  • Chipotle Hummus and Roasted Garlic Hummus
  • Better than Cream Cheese
  • Better’n Peanut Butter
  • Frozen mix of green beans, wax beans, and carrots
  • Edamame

Sticking with the ‘Better’ theme, I decided to cut up one of the pitas and spread some ‘cream cheese’ and ‘peanut butter’ on them.  I used 1 tbs of each and I am very surprised at how good it was!  I can’t really control myself with peanut butter, so I figured this would be a good alternative despite the large list of ingredients.

Including the almonds from earlier, 217 calories, 8 grams of protein, and 3 grams of fiber.

Trail Run

I headed out to the local trail and ran.  I ran 4 miles in 36:47.  Afterwards, as I was stretching, it started to rain- talk about good timing!  I’m heading out to Trader Joe’s to stock up on some staples, i’ll post some pictures of what I purchased later.

I know i’ll eat something from Trader Joe’s, so I had ten almonds to hold me off.
