First, I love your blog! I was wondering if you could start blogging more in depth recipes so we can recreate your meals. Rather than just telling what you ate, you could mention how you cooked it and for how long. I would love that!
Also, do you find that eating fruit with meals gives you digestive complaints?
Thanks for your time!

Hi Jasriana, thanks for reading the blog!

I prepack my breakfast and lunch so even if I am hungry, I can't really eat somthing. I used to pack an ounce of almonds or a Luna Bar but now I have learned that water does the trick *sometimes*. It also helps that I'm blogging, it makes it a lot easier to turn down an extra helping of something! But, If I am really hungry and have healthy options I will snack.

For my oats, I combine: .5 cup oats, .5 cup almond milk, .5 cup water, fresh fruits and then cook them until they are done- stirring very often. Near the end, I add in the flax seed. I find that fresh fruit works best but frozen berries can make a very pretty oatmeal! (I just added this question to the FAQ, i've gotten it a few times)

I use cup measurements and I measure fruits/veggies with grams (food scale). I plug everything into Sparkpeople AFTER I eat... I find that logging it afterwards allows me to enjoy the food without worrying about the carb, fat, and protein ratios.

Hope this helped!

Hi, I've been reading your blog for a while now and it's really inspiring to see someone eating so well and managing their diet the way you do. It's something I really wish I could do - you mentioned in one post you were still hungry after a breakfast yet managed to stick to your allotted plan. The same situation would have sent me scurrying for a choc bar (vegan of course). I just wondered if you have any thoughts as to how I could get in your mindset as it were - I'm about the same age as you but I'm terrible at controlling my food intake even though I'm vegan. Thanks : )

*ooh* and also, how do you prepare your oatmeal (quantities, etc?) - it always looks so yummy but whenever I make oatmeal it comes out in one horrible thin mess. Also, do you cook your fruit in with the oatmeal?

dylan, I'm jewish too and was wondering the same thing! For the fast last week I woke up early to eat, which was a mistake because then I overslept. After the fast I felt entitled to a few treats;)
I've been vegetarian for so long, and now I am looking into becoming vegan. This blog makes it look so appetizing..

I find the eating late at night doesn't effect me as long as I stay under calories. I know many people swear off eating late at night but I've actually looked it up and a calorie is a calorie. It is better to eat throughout the day to keep the metabolism up, like you mentioned. I do think if you managed to eat 1200 calories in one sitting, you might way a bit more in the morning because of the digestive period. I'm not educated on this but i'll definitely research today on it just to be 100% sure.

1/2 cup couscous
calories- 88
Fat- .1
Carbs- 18.2
Fiber-1.1
Protein- 3

Hope this helped!

hey i'm vegetarian (tried to be vegan--way too hard for now) and trying to lose weight as well..i have two questions if you don't mind me asking, haha..
firstly, do you find it to matter what time of day you eat? for instance, i'm jewish, so we have quite a few fast days and after we break the fast at night, let's say my stomach can take 1,200 calories (though i doubt it's really possible), is it the same as eating it gradually throughout the day? (aside from the health factor and the fact that spacing out is preferable for the metabolism). just asking if you know from experience because it's always made me nervous. also, eating late at night--do you know if it makes you gain more even while still under your calorie budget?

and secondly, how many calories are in half a cup of cooked couscous? i ask because on calorieking it only gives the count for a 1/4 of a cup uncooked and i don't know how much it expands..

thanky ou sooo much, i'm annoying. (=
